Penultimate assignment

It's November 2010, there's not many sleeps until Christmas but there is even less until all my TAFE work must be delivered to my lecturer for marking. On reflection, TAFE and me have not been very good friends this year.

Back in 2009, I had high hopes of taking my Cert 3 of nutrition & dietetics and assisting people with allergies and intolerances to make their lifes better, that dream died pretty quickly. Due to recognition of prior learning (RPL) not being able to be proven I have studied lots of units that bored me and as a result lacked focus to complete them or actually care. The course was meant to last 12 months but in July 2010 the course way still a Looong way for complete not just because I hadn't done the work but some units were not ready for us as resources were unavailable and the field component a shambles as the course is not fully recognised like a university degree is has made has further delayed the progression of the course but thankfully this does not concern me as I have elected to use my Community Foodies work as my field placement. This saga will unfortunatly drag studies into 2011.

But there is a light 18 months later I have finally reached the units that I that sparked my interest in this course originally, subjects of Allied Health were good health doesn't just include the GP and menu planning for children, the elderly and those from other cultures and those requiring foods of different textures.

By the end of today I will have completed the penultimate unit of study for 2010 ready to be couriered to my lecturer. Then it's on to the final one and ultimately the one I fear the most planning a 2 week menu plan for a child environment in intricate detail starting at breakfast then including morning teas, lunch and afternoon teas for preschoolers and afterschool snack for school aged children while meeting all dietary guidelines, it is a daunting task but a challenge I will enjoy.
